Spring and Easter Dresses!!!

It all started a few months ago, December to be exact, when I was listening to a dear friend of mine tell me about how she got her 8 year old daughter an American Doll for Christmas. She was so excited to give it to her, but was still in shock at the amount she had to spend to get the doll. I believe her exact words were something like, "I wanted to get some outfits too, but I had already spent $200 by the time I got that freaking horse too!" Yes. She got the horse too. She is one of those moms.

My brain started churning at that moment, and an idea sparked. I knew how to sew. I had left over fabric in my basement. And I knew I even had patterns for doll clothes lying around somewhere in my sewing room. So over the next few days I hid myself in my sewing room, abandoned my housework (I'm always looking for an excuse to do that), and put together a handful of outfits for her to give to her daughter for Christmas.

When they were done, I brought them with me to the gym in the morning, where I knew I would see my friend, and gave them to her, all wrapped up with pretty wrapping paper. The joy on her face as she opened them was more than thanks enough for the hours that I had spent on them. She was thrilled. So thrilled, in fact, that she put them all out on display and dragged all the other moms at the gym over to see them. (I believe she even dragged some of the guys over as well, who politely feigned interest and then went back to flexing in the mirrors.) I was a little embarrassed, but I had three ladies ask me that day if I sold my doll clothes. And so another idea sparked.

To be honest, up until then I had never even considered selling doll clothes. But the more people asked about them, the more I began to think that perhaps it wasn't such a bad idea. What did I have to lose, really, except all that time in my sewing room ignoring the housework?

And so here they are, just in time for Spring and Easter. Because what doll doesn't need a new Easter dress?

( By the way, if you have the horse too, you're on your own to come up with a cute spring outfit. I just don't go there.)
